Top 5 Curious Birds of San Blas

The San Blas Birds Festival is coming! Here we present some of the most colorful and representative species of this region of the Riviera Nayarit, don’t miss out the chance to visit them by the end of this month!

1) Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii)

This friendly buddy is a big star, especially on Isabel Island and some parts of the Mexican Pacific, the males’ blue paws are their best ally for the reproduction of this unique bird.

2) Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja)

The pretty cousin of herons, proudly displays its fantastic pink plumage as it strolls through the estuaries and mangroves of San Blas, owes its name to the shape of its singular beak, with which it filters its food.

3) Boat-billed Heron (Cochlearius cochlearius)

A symbol of this beautiful port, although it is a bit shy, the presence of this important bird is considered an indicator to monitor problems in their environment.

4) Magnificent Frigate (Fregata magnificens)

The elegant frigate offers a great show during mating, as males show their impressive deep red color to catch the attention of coveted females.

5) American Oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus)
