Taking the state road no. 76, from Santa Cruz de Miramar to Tepic via Jalcocotán, you will find a peaceful town of just under 100 homes, called Tecuitata, what is special about this place are the springs, bird watching and the spectacular views of Matanchén Bay.
The high summer temperatures leave us looking for more places to cool off, in Tecuitata you will find the Nuevo Chapultepec Waterpark, where the pools and slides meet the spring waters creating a unique atmosphere to enjoy with the whole family.
This beautiful space is less than 40 minutes away from downtown San Blas, as you reach the village of Tecuitata, we suggest you stop at the viewpoint to appreciate the breathtaking views, from one side you will see Matanchén Bay and from the other, the evergreen Sierra de San Juan.
In addition, you’ll find rustic and country style establishments where you may delight yourself with the typical food of the region, how about some beans fresh from the pot with fresh cheese, cactus and handmade tortillas? So hard to resist!
Tecuitata is also home for lot of endemic birds like parrots, hawks and storks, as a completely open space, there is a greater number of species to watch, so your experience will be even more pleasurable.
