Our beautiful port of San Blas has been internationally recognized for several reasons, among which, it has been registered with the longest wave in the world by the Guinness World Records. This time, we tell a little more about it.
The Pacific Ocean is known for its long waves that have become one of the favorite destinations for surfers worldwide, specifically in the Riviera Nayarit where we have excellent beaches for all levels of experience.
During summertime, the beach of Las Islitas witnesses a beautiful natural phenomenon due to its location between the marshes and Matanchén Bay, receiving the influence of southern surges that may reach kilometric lengths and attracting those surfers who enjoy riding one same wave for longer.
A few years ago, when it was considered the longest wave in the world, it actually got to reach more than two kilometers long and could be appreciated from Matanchén up to Stoner Point Break. Currently, there are some other longer waves around the world, but this one is still the longest in North America.
It is noteworthy that in Stoner Break Point, located next to Las Islitas, the waves are so powerful that a higher expertise is recommended in order to surf there; if you’re starting to practice this exciting water sport, we suggest the beaches of Los Cocos and Platanitos, a little more to the south.
Dare to feel the adrenaline of becoming one with the sea, testing your physical abilities; remember that it is never too late to learn a new activity and share your photos on our social networks!
