Welcoming the Humpback Whale!

One of the most spectacular winter inhabitants of San Blas, is the great humpback whale, which astonishes both children and adults, with their incredible jumps and adorable pups. Have you seen them?

The scientific name of this huge buddy is Megaptera novaeangliae, in its adult life can be up to 16 meters long and weigh 36 tons. A real giant!

As many know, the humpback whale chooses the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Mexican Pacific to breed and give birth, being one of the most popular attractions among visitors of the Riviera Nayarit.

Since it is an acrobat by nature, jumping over the sea waters and marveling the witnesses seem to give it a special joy, making it an excellent artist that will leave you speechless with its performance, all this in their natural habitat without having to live in captivity.

In addition to the impressive cetacean, you can observe in the surroundings of this historic port, some other species such as whale shark, sea turtle, blue-footed booby bird, magnificent frigate and an endless number of curious birds, that is why San Blas is a fantastic place to do ecotourism.
