8 Activities to Enjoy San Blas during Summertime

Summer is definitely a time when we seek to freshen up the heat and take advantage of school holidays and San Blas certainly has a long list of activities for this season, here below we share our top 8:

1) Navy Day Celebration

San Blas celebrates its seafaring tradition every June 1st with a lively parade and the traditional dance that gladdens all residents and visitors of our beautiful port.

2) International Sport Fishing Tournament

The first days of the month of June, the waters of San Blas are the perfect setting for Sport Fishing lovers, test your skills in this exciting activity along with the masters in search of gold fish, sailfish and marlin.

3) Boat ride through La Tovara and Kiekari Crocodile Preserve

La Tovara has an incomparable beauty throughout the year, but in summer, the rising waters provide an incredible show because everything looks greener and full of life, let yourself be guided by the birdsong and meet the impressive crocodiles.

4) Visit the Paraje del Rey and Cora Sanctuary

If you come looking to learn a little more of Traditional Cora and Huichol Culture, we invite you to take a short boat ride to get to the Paraje del Rey, an almost deserted beach where the Cora Sanctuary is located and it is also the mythical Haramara, one of the Sacred Sites within the Kupuri, or the five cardinal points for the Huichol People.

5) The Stone of the Virgin

A symbol of the beautiful beaches of San Blas is the Stone of the Virgin, a small rock off the coast where you can find the image of the Virgin of Our Lady of the Rosary (also known as La Marinera) patron saint of sailors; this rock is also an important ceremonial center of the Huichol.

6) Salto del Cora

The rainy season brings to this region the greening of its landscapes and the flooding of streams, providing the famous Salto del Cora greater volume to the spectacular waterfall where surely you will want to freshen up the heat.

7) The Fort of San Blas

Discover all the glorious past of this great colonial port that still retains its major buildings such as the Fort San Basilio and the Contaduria, which also enjoys one of the best views in town with beautiful scenery surrounding it.

8) Las Islitas Beach and Matanchén Bay

If you come with your family, we recommend visiting the beaches of the Bay of Matanchén, as well as having incredible beauty, its waters are calm and shallow, ideal for young and old, with excellent options to taste typical dishes.
